I think that most people have heard of the stimulus package the government is implementing to jump start our economy. Realizing something had to be done there are stimulus packages being given in different areas. One area that is really getting a boost is the housing market. By offering a Housing Stimulus package the people that were thinking of buying may find themselves at the buying table. The package is in the form of tax credits. If you are a first time home buyer or a person that has not owned a home for three years you qualify for a tax credit up to $8,000. The tax credits do not stop there. If you have lived in your home for the last 5 out of 8 years consecutively you also may qualify for a tax credit of $6,500. These tax credits may be just what the housing market needs to get going in the right direction. The deadline for these tax credits is April 10,2010. By that date you have to have a written or binding contract on your new home to take advantage of the tax credits. Everyone wants to own their own home and with these incentives maybe more people can afford to live the American Dream.
